crush crush crush
Speaking of Ladies, I only saw two Lady Gaga's this year. One did have her hair rolled up in cans like in the "Telephone" video though.
Treat Street was fun. There was one other Hello Kitty and she was adorable. Probably about four years old. She took of RUNNING across a booth to hug me. It was really sweet. Actually most of the kids were very sweet and cute.
Ben came over last night and we ate Jack O'Lantern pizza and tried to watch movies but we couldn't get into either movie he brought. We talked a lot and he ate some of the candy he told me I needed to buy (not one trick or treater came by the way, I'm going to have candy for months) and he giggled at me because I got irrationally jealous of these two broads he knew before me. Yeah, hi, I'm SANE. Ha ha.
The thing about Ben is that I can say anything to him. And he makes me laugh. And reminds me to eat and sometimes I wake up and see that he's done my dishes or fixed some other disaster in my house. Like when the cat broke my dvd player (no really she snapped a wire) he fixed it. He fixed my computer. He came to rescue me when I ran out of gas. He fusses over me a little bit, I think because he knows I'm kind of a baby and need that sort of thing. At least at home. And his parents seem to like me for some reason or another, even when I show up at their house dressed like Hello Kitty.
My parents are mostly to thank for my Halloween. My gosh my dad and Mama D bought my costume and gave me a little Halloween Bonus so I could have some fun. Ben helped a ton too but with the way Chico is, it was nice to have some extra scratch in case I wanted to take a cab.
It was definitely fun to celebrate again. I do LOVE Halloween but for the last three years didn't really celebrate at all. Last year I did dress up but ended up in a fight with my ex at the end of the night so really...
Anyway I had a nice weekend. I have a band rolling through the station today at 1 to play and Novembeard starts tonight as well. I have to roll out to Duffy's after work to support all my guys in growing their beards "for the kids."
Looking forward to Thanksgiving. I miss my folks and I can't wait to go home. Seriously.

familia
However when I was working at the Sea Shanty down in SLO I seemed to acquire a few of them. My two favorites being my boy Jojo and my big brother Danny.
This is at my going away party. This picture is on my desk. It's funny I miss them like crazy and am often reminded of this fact when I'm on the Facebook, like this morning. I was very blessed with my time there at the Sea Shanty and I'll probably never not be grateful for it.
There are more, the lovely DJ Slick, the amazing Sauve Javi, the very cool, talented and extremely nice DJ SOL... Damn man, I miss you all so much. There isn't anything like that going in Nor Cal, this is certain.
I'm grateful because all of these people helped me find my way when I was so lost. I can't thank them enough, which means you'll hear about them again someday.
Love you guys lots. xoxoxo

sleepless in chico
True facts- I am a very tired girl.
Going back to working mornings (and yeah I mean I get up at 5:30 every day, I'm not whining about having to be at the office by 9 or anything, I am out my door most days by 6:30) after years of being on a regular 9-5 schedule or especially after my year at Radio Central Coast where I basically had to show up sometime before I went on the air at 2pm? It's a sleep shock.
It also seems that no matter how early I go to bed, I do not get enough sleep. I am either unable to sleep through the night consistantly or can't fall asleep. When I can't fall asleep I just get up. I mean laying in bed when you can't sleep is pointless as all get out anyway, so I get up, which I understand may not be the best thing to do.
Believe me it's not because I'm not exhausted either. Every day I work ALOT and I am usually drained by the time I drag through my front door. But without fail I'll perk up again at 8pm and won't be able to fall asleep until Midnight most nights. It's just how my body clock rolls. And the thing is I have no problem waking up and getting out the door either. It's just about the second hour of my show in the mornings the yawning so hard that tears are coming out of my eyes kicks up and all that make up I put on at 5:30 is on my shirt collar and I might as well have slept in.
I think a lot of it has to do with my bed or the futon as it were. It's hella more comfortable than the floor, do doubt, but it's still not an actual bed. I think this situation is getting rectified soon though so I'm not gonna trip. Hopefully a comfy bed will fix this sleep problem because yawning my way through the first few hours of my show isn't good radio.
I need to recreate whatever magical sleeping magic came down to me on Saturday night. I think I slept in on Sunday until almost 10. NO joke. That's so rare these days, if it were a steak, it'd still be up walking around and mooing.

365 days later...

This is me on the last day of being 30 years old. Tomorrow I turn 31, if I like it or not. Oddly enough although I dreaded my 30th birthday like I was going to the gallows, being 30 ended up being kind of a roller coaster ride of sorts...
365 days ago I wasn't working. I didn't think I'd ever work again to be honest, I was ready to get a job (shudder) outside of radio and just do what I had to do. I wasn't particularly happy with my weight, my situation in life and I just sort of felt like... well like being 30 was going to just suck.
Then about a month into it, my friend Teresa called me. She'd been working at some radio group in town and they had an opening. And I applied and through some miracle of miracles I got that job and went to work with a bunch of people I've come to think of as my family. I made new friends, I became closer with friends I already had (hello Teresa is my SISTER these days, yo) I tried new things and started running, for my health, not because a big damn bear was chasing me.
And then another job came along. And it was like job Christmas, this was the job I'd been waiting for my whole life and suddenly there it was. Waiting for me to come take it and take a big scary leap. Which I did, because hey, what's life but a series of big scary leaps, one right after the next? So off I went.
So here I am. 30 for just a few more hours. It's a trip to think about how much has changed in just one year and to think how many people became so important to me in that short time and really touched my life. I just feel blessed. And oddly enough calm about turning 31. I have a feeling everything is just getting started for me...

What the hell is it with ants at radio stations?
This is my third week in Chico and by week two it became painfully clear that we too are being overrun by ants. And these are weird HUGE mutant black ants and no matter how much ant spray we spray on them, they just won't die or go away. We'll get them out of one studio and they'll move into another. It's frustrating and kinda gross to be honest.
It was also kind of fortunate because I got to introduce the good people of the Chico radio group I work for to the ant eater meme. Remember these guys?
We now have ant eaters in both rock stations, but I don't think they're actually helping anymore than the ant poison. Nuclear mutant ants! I even tried the unthinkable this weekend... I cleaned the studio. I'm talking on my hands and knees with disinfectant wipes, cleaning the shelves. I was richly rewarded for this by stabbing myself in the finger with an industrial strength staple that was hidden up in the shelving unit somewhere.
Never let it be said I don't bleed for my work.

Gifts
This has always been pretty funny to me since I pretty much have unlimited access to Crown bags since my stepmom works in a bar. I really should just start reselling them to other DJ's.
